Amizade
Amizade is a nonprofit organization that was started with the idea of saving the rainforest by helping the people of the rainforest. Council on Philanthropy Jobsource

...employment opportunities in nonprofit, educational, and government agencies located in the Midwest. At the time of review, this database was filled with good opportunities in numerous agencies and organizations in Kansas, Missouri, and other Midwest states. Nice note: the council reviews all listings and will reject any which do not meet their posting guidelines. The database sorts from newest to oldest, but you can search by various criteria, although I would avoid specifying a state. They also list internships (InternSource) and volunteer opportunities (VolunteerSource), both of which can be accessed through the left menu.

Deep Sweep

...job board for positions in nonprofit organizations. Very nice selection of jobs. It is easy to search and to apply for positions found here, and the jobs seem very good. Jobs are divided into 6 section covering everything from Support Services to Education to Fundraising, but you can also search "All sections" or use keywords to find what you want. Nice feature -- find one job you like, and you can easily scan all other jobs in the same section or posted by the same employer. Free registration is not required to use this site, but if you do register your resume you can also set up a free job tracking and email alert service.

The National Institute for Research Advancement (NIRA) is a policy research organization established to conduct research from an independent standpoint and contribute to the resolution of various complex issues facing contemporary society. The Heritage Foundation

... International Monetary Fund (IMF)

Internet Public Library - The Internet Public Library (IPL), is a public service organization and learning/teaching environment at the University of Michigan School of Information. They provide library services to Internet users including finding, evaluating, selecting, organizing, describing, and creating information resources; and direct assistance to individuals. We are committed to establishing and running a no-kill shelter for the homeless pets of Southwest Michigan. In 2005, we rescued and re-homed over 1000 dogs, cats, puppies & kittens, primarily from SW MI Animal Control facilities. We are always looking for additional volunteers to help with caring for the animals at the kennel, fostering, general clerical, fundraising, and adoption events.

Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War
Our purpose is to perpetuate the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), and of the men who saved the Union in 1861 to 1865: to assist in every practicable way in the preservation and making available for research of documents and records pertaining to the GAR and its members; to cooperate in doing honor to all those who have patriotically served our country in any war; to teach patriotism and the duties of citizenship, the true history of our country, and the love and honor of our flag; to oppose every tendency or movement that would weaken loyalty to, or make for the distruction or impairment of, our constitutional Union; and to inculcate and broadly sustain the American principles of representative government, of equal rights, and of impartial justice for all. This is accomplished through our several programs: Monuments & Memorials Preservation, Graves Registration, GAR Records, etc. Membership is open to male blood relatives of persons who served between April 12, 1861, and April 9, 1865, as soldiers or sailors of the Union Army and were honorably discharged therefrom at the close of such service or who died in such service. The local chapter is the Gen. Benjamin Pritchard Camp No. 20, which meets at the Oshtemo branch of the Kalamazoo Public Library, 7265 West Main Street, Oshtemo. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month, March through November. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is chartered by Act of Congress (Public Law 605, 1954).

The home page of the USS Gryphon, a Kalamazoo-area Star Trek fan club. In addition to being a registered student organization of Western Michigan University, it is a chapter of STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association. Its meetings and membership are open to the public.

VOLUNTEER CENTER OF GREATER KALAMAZOO
The Volunteer Center is a not-for-profit organization that fosters, promotes, and supports volunteer involvement in Kalamazoo County. The Center serves as a clearinghouse for information about current volunteer opportunities and volunteer management issues. The Volunteer Center recruits, refers, and recognizes volunteers and provides consultation and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations. Some of the trainings offered include: Basic Skills for Volunteer Managers and Building a Better Board.
